After doing the staple Christmas movie list, we thought we could give some recommendations for some great films to watch with the whole family.
A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965)
Perfect if it’s a bit late and you feel like a beautiful sweet film to watch with the family, your kids, or even your friends and your loved one. A Charlie Brown Christmas is the Christmas movie of the Peanuts comic strips, which most people know as the comic strips of Snoopy and Charlie Brown.
This one hour gem of a film is not only a comforting warm classic but it also has one of the most beautiful soundtracks ever.
A Muppets Christmas Carol (1992)
Another relatively short gem, but this time with a familiar story. Most people have heard or seen or read some version of the classic Dickens’ tale of A Christmas Carol; a beautiful story about change and love. Now, imagine that but with Kermit the frog as Bob Cratchit the underpaid clerk and Michael Caine as Ebeneezer Scrooge, the anti-hero of Christmas.
Little Women (2019)
Not exactly a Christmas film, but it just captures a certain atmosphere for which it is worth watching during this time. I remember it coming out a day or two before Christmas eve and there are some beautiful scenes set around the festive season which anyone can enjoy.
Miracle on 34th Street (1947)
Both this film and the next are a bit older, but nonetheless they stand as great works which should not be forgotten. If you’ve never seen Miracle on 34th Street we highly suggest you do. This is one of the most perfect and beautiful Christmas movies, that’s perhaps a bit overlooked on this side of the pond, but should definitely be given more attention for its warm endearing plot and characters.
It’s a Wonderful Life (1946)
Again, this film is another you must watch. It’s likely that you might have seen it, but if you haven’t or your kids haven’t you should make some time to enjoy this beautiful trip. James Stewart plays a frustrated individual who is at a point in his life where everything is bothering him, and he’s simply sick of living. In contemplating whether or not he should keep living or just end it, an angel appears to show him what would have happened had he never lived.
A Christmas Story (1983)
This cute quirky 80’s movie is just another Christmas treat for the family. Another classic that is sometimes maybe overlooked, A Christmas Story is a collection of a man’s memories of one Christmas in his childhood, and his persistence in wanting an airgun as a gift.
